Pilot, a well know company in pen production, offers the first recycled pen made from 89% recycled water bottles. The pen is creatively named “Bottle 2 Pen†or “B2P†and is part of the “BeGreen†line of products. Designed to resemble a water bottle, the B2P is retractable and refillable using Pilot’s G2 gel refills.
According to Pilot, products in the BeGreen line are made from at least 70% post-consumer materials and is manufactured in factories meeting or exceeding ISO 14001 and 14021, the standards for environmentally responsible production. Even the packaging is made from recycled materials.
Here is a diagram of the BeGreen product manufacturing process:
While the prices of products made from recycled materials are higher, I personally think we should support Pilot’s efforts. I’m don’t know if they offer these here in Shanghai (I have not seen them around), however, if I see some, I’ll be sure to place some in my shopping basket!
